Tony Borthwick of The Plumed Horse
named Scottish Chef of the Year 2005
 
Tony Borthwick of the tiny Plumed Horse in Crossmichael in Dumfries & Galloway has
won the premier category in the Scottish Chef Awards 2005. He was named Scottish Chef
of the Year at a Gala Dinner on Sunday May 8 at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow attended by over 200 chefs.

Restaurant Chef Hits The Heights
 
Stuart Muir of the Forth Floor at Harvey Nichols
department store in Edinburgh clinched an unique double when he was named Scottish
Restaurant Chef of the Year following on from
his victory in the New Restaurant category two years ago.

Ballater Chef Takes Top Hotel Award
 
The judges named David Mutter of Darroch Learg Hotel in Ballater as winner of the
Scottish Hotel Chef of the Year Award.

 

Geoffrey Scoops City Chef Award
 
Geoffrey Smeddle of Etain in the Princes
Square shopping mall in Glasgow city
centre won the Scottish City Chef of the
year. Geoffrey was highly commended last
year in the New Restaurant category.

George Lands Rural Chef Award
 
George Scott (pictured right) of the Seafood
Restaurant at St Monans won the Scottish
Rural Chef of the Year. Also pictured is Craig
Millar of the Seafood Restaurant at St Andrews.

 

Clare is New Restaurant Winner
 
Clare McKie (pictured centre) of the Cafe Royale fish and seafood restaurant at
Broomhill in Glasgow's West End won the
New Restaurant of the Year Award. Her
parents own the Royal Hotel in Tighnabruich, where she was head chef prior to moving to Glasgow.

 

Andy Triumphs in Casual Dining Award
 
Andy Mitchell of Stravaigin 2 off Byres Rd
in Glasgow's West End was the winner of
Casual Dining Award.

First Gastro Pub of the Year Shared
 
Clare Mansfield (pictured top right) of the Applecross Inn in Wester Ross and Craig Grant (pictured right below ) of Sorn
Inn in Ayrshire shared the inaugural Gastro
Pub of the Year Award.

Kinnaird The Place for Gourmets
 
Trevor Brooks of Kinnaird near Dunkeld
in Perthshire was the first winner of another
new award - Gourmet Dinner (over £50) of
the Year for a dinner for a single group that
showed mastery of matching food with wine.

Third Success for Jean- Michel
 
Edinburgh chef Jean-Michel Gauffre of La Garrigue notched up his third success at the
Awards, this year winning Gourmet Dinner (under £50) of the Year.
