The Scottish Chef of the Year This is the premier award on the night and is given to Scotland's most outstanding chef for 2008. The judges will be looking for either a year of outstanding merit or the accumulation of several years' excellence. Scottish Restaurant Chef of the Year, This award recognises outstanding achievement over the past year for a chef cooking solely in a restaurant environment. Scottish Hotel Chef of the Year, Proof of overall excellence in every aspect of cooking in a hotel - from a stand-alone restaurant to banqueting - is required to win this award. Scottish City Chef of the Year In today's competitive environment, cooking in a city centre is as tough as it gets. This award recognises those who operate with originality and distinction. Scottish Rural Chef of the Year Cooking in a countryside location provides its own particular challenges. The judges are looking for evidence of restaurants rising to the challenge with superb cooking. New Scottish Restaurant of the Year, Starting a new operation can be very daunting. You are eligible to enter this award if your restaurant opened after Jan 1 2007. Gourmet Meal Award (over £50) & Gourmet Meal Award (under £50) Every restaurant has a culinary highlight - a special dinner where you reached the highest expectations. This could be a corporate event, a wedding, wine dinner, function, or a meal for a private group. There are two categories - over £50 incl wine and under £50 incl wine. Casual Dining Award These days there are so many different types of good restaurants. This awards recognises the pubs, cafes, bistros and brasseries whose excellence is often overlooked. Gastro Pub Chef of the Year Gastro pubs are the latest development on the vibrant Scottish catering scene. This award celebrates achievement in this new sector. Scottish Young Chef of the Year (aged 23-25), To enter this competition, send in a two-course original menu - one featuring vegetables and the other fish - with full recipes and costings. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to cook a meal for the judges on Monday April 30. Scottish Young Chef of the Year (22 and under), To enter this competition, send in a two-course original menu - one featuring mushrooms and the other salmon - with full recipes and costings. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to cook a meal for the judges on Monday April 28. Scottish Chef Award Fellowship This award is given for outstanding contribution to the industry over a period of many years. It is unlikely to be given to anyone under 40. |
